CTSG3- Team Lollasaurus

Posted by WritersBlock Feb. 17, 2008 @ 6:49 PM EST

Specs:
BPM: 150
Bars/part: 16
Time/part: approx 25.6 secs
Transition period: 1 to 2 bars at the beginning, nothing too intense, it's fairly flexible, a bit of common sense to fit your part tastefully into the part before (you may get straight into it, even), just keep it fairly short and easy to work with, you can go nuts when you're not in with another part!
Parts: 10-11 (depends on how many apply)
Overall time: 4:30-5:00
Key signature: D-minor/F-Major (key change will be set for a specific part, tasteful accidentals are encouraged)
Time signature: 4/4 (may get mixed up to 3/4 6/8 or something like that...)

Team Lollasaurus is:
WritersBlock (captain lol)
meneldil (anything but electronica)
Blackhole12 (Classical, New age, trance, videogame)
oscillist (D'n'B)
Father-of-Death (ANUS!)
zacko555000 (Drum'n'Bass, trance)
preffertobedead (Drum'n'Bass)
Joowna (Dance/Trance)
MJTTOMB (Classical)

Order:
1-[X]-MJTTOMB
2-[X]-Joowna
3-[X]-prefertobedead
4-[]-zacko555000
5-[]-oscillist
6-[]-Father-of-Death
7-[]-meneldil
8-[]-Blackhole12
9-[]-WritersBlock

Good luck guys, I think this is going to turn out great!

Submitting your part:
I probably should've mentioned this a bit earlier... but anyways, here goes...
Once you've done your part, upload it to mediafire.com (or something to that effect) as a .wav
Like the CTSG2, just upload your part. Maybe keep things fairly low down and PM me the link and I'll forward it to the other members, instead of just linking it here, I think it'll be better as a surprise.

Sample song: it's in ctsg2... or take a look here: http://www.newgrounds.com/audio/liste n/87633
Hardware used: electric guitar, nylon string guitar, harmonica, crappy mic, vocal cords, old casio keyboard with some nice sounds
Software used: Ableton Live 6, Cool Edit Pro 2, voxengo redunoise, amplitube, a bunch of soundfonts and samples
Genre: anything besides electronica, I'll get inspired with the previous part ^^
Reason for wanting to join: RULE 10

Feb. 18, 2008 | 3:25 AM WritersBlock responds:

Yay, my first member. Yeah, you're in. When more people sign up I'll figure out an order, anywhere you want to go, in particular?

Software used: FL studio 7

Reason: Because its fun :D

In terms of order I could go after meneldil, since I've got some nice piano samples and could transition from classical to trance or some other genre.

Feb. 18, 2008 | 7:16 AM WritersBlock responds:

Ok, cool. That's a good idea. I think I could get a smooth transition from after you. So, if we line the order up from there, other people can take their pick around us, with the opening, closing and modulation parts open.

Feb. 18, 2008 | 6:03 AM meneldil says:

Nah, I don't care, I can go anywhere ^^

Feb. 18, 2008 | 7:27 AM WritersBlock responds:

Yeah, I'll get the rest of the team to fit their parts around you. You could be the beginning, but I like your transitions, So I think we'll find someone else to kick things off.

Feb. 18, 2008 | 6:47 PM WritersBlock responds:

Since most of the guys are doing hardcore electronica stuff, maybe you could open the game with some soft happy ambient/light techno, or something completely random. I think a huge block of electronica in the middle will sound cool, and chuck some different styles on the beginning/end. Maybe TjA could start with something ambient to begin with, and you can do whatever you like from there. Part 1 or 2, around that area sound okay?

Feb. 18, 2008 | 7:16 PM Nav says:

Mind if I take an earlier part? But not one. Two, Three, or Four all work for me. Thanks!

Feb. 18, 2008 | 8:12 PM WritersBlock responds:

yeah, sure

Feb. 19, 2008 | 1:32 AM meneldil says:

Everybody's doing electronica... How about I do a slow classical part for lol? xD

FoD, do you watch On the moon series?

Feb. 19, 2008 | 2:41 AM WritersBlock responds:

ANUS!!!
Lol, <3 it. And, yeah, electronica will dominate this team. I think if you, Blackhole12 and myself can finish it in a more classical, softer tone, it'll sound really nice.
I also think we should start off with something soft, ambient, something light, and then have a big block of hardcore electronica (although I don't want it all sounding the same =/ ), I think that'll sound awesome. Does D minor sound good to you? Start off in F major, ambient, the next three (or so) parts doing a happy electronica style, getting progressively more agressive, part 5 would be the most crazy intense part, transitioning from F major to D minor (which shouldn't be too hard if you get some crazy bass happening), then 6 and 7 would be more electronica in D minor, part 7 would tone it down a bit, and then your classical part, Blackhole12 and myself would get some softer more conventional classical stuff to cap it off. Does that sound alright?
I'll update the parts to include descriptions, so it'll be easier for people to pick.

you only have to learn me how to do something in F major :P

Feb. 19, 2008 | 4:30 AM WritersBlock responds:

lol, F major, it's just F, G, A, B flat, C, D, E, F. Not too hard. Your sample song was pretty good, but if you don't know your key signatures too well... :/
You're in for now, but we'll just see how your part goes. And if both oscillist and MaestroRage join up here from the main thread, that'll be 11 people, so, this team is full.

rather than coming up with a witty and effective come back, im gonna go mess with team awesome

Feb. 19, 2008 | 6:44 PM WritersBlock responds:

Can we keep the flames to the thred from now on. I left one on each newspost, and I'll leave it at that. And I don't really care that you've got navij11 and c4v. If I'm honest here, none of the macho egotistic flame war shit, I think each team will produce some good quality music, but we're all going to have something different. For one, it's a game, and while I'm telling you that you suck and you're going to lose to us, I'm only doing that to act the part, I want people to have fun in this game/competition.

Feb. 20, 2008 | 3:33 AM meneldil says:

Hey, MaestroRage joined team awesome, look at their newspost.

Also - the square root of popeye = fifty twelve. Do I win? ^^

Feb. 20, 2008 | 4:54 AM WritersBlock responds:

Yes. I know. He didn't see me asking for him ^_^
I'll change that. I've asked MJTTOMB to join, he said he was interested but doubted a team would need a classical piano solo.

Feb. 20, 2008 | 6:41 AM MJTTOMB says:

It wouldn't hurt to start off with a brief part in D minor to help add more strength to the oncoming major.

Feb. 20, 2008 | 6:42 AM MJTTOMB says:

Srry for the double post, but now I'm inspired. I've always wanted to beat the crap outa maestro.

xD

Feb. 20, 2008 | 8:11 AM WritersBlock responds:

Awesome, yeah, that'll be cool, take it away in D minor, I like that idea. Can't wait.

Also, as the opening part, if you want to have a bit more creative license, you can extend the beginning past the standard 16 seconds if you'd like.
I'll probably be adding maybe 4 bars or so to the end, so, yeah, go nuts!

Updated: Feb. 20, 2008, 8:27 AM

Feb. 20, 2008 | 2:51 PM Joowna says:

ehm, this is my first time ctsg, and i like to have spot 2, after MJTTOMB, but must i listen to his part first, or can i start making mine?

Feb. 20, 2008 | 5:55 PM WritersBlock responds:

You should hear his part first. And if you can get something working working right, you can start a transition 1 or 2 bars before the end of his part.

Feb. 20, 2008 | 5:52 PM meneldil says:

Haha, I'm gonna get some new stuff ^^

Soon I'll have AKG A-66 headphones, there's nothing better you can get with as limited budget as I have ^^ I'll finally be able to mix and master things properly. With my audigy zs 2 it'll be awesome... I mean lolsome ^^
And I'll probably have EWQL Symphonic Orchestra Gold in a few days ^^

I kick the ass!

Feb. 20, 2008 | 5:57 PM WritersBlock responds:

wow, that's brilliant. You absolutely HAVE to do classical now.

And, yes, don't use that word...

Oh yeah ^_^
#7 sounds good then!

Feb. 20, 2008 | 7:18 PM WritersBlock responds:

Cool, I was thinking that'd be the best part for you. You got it.

Feb. 23, 2008 | 2:52 AM meneldil says:

Hey, have we started? :o

Feb. 23, 2008 | 3:50 AM WritersBlock responds:

MJTTOMB's working on his part, I haven't gotten anything yet, but I'm hoping he'll be done soon. I'll PM you and everyone else when I get his part, so you can check it out, so everyone'll know what each part sounds like.

But I don't think there's a huge rush, though. Team Awesome have done 2 parts that I'm aware of and Bitchtones have done 1 that I'm aware of, but 2nd-Edition doesn't want to have the worry of deadlines, because he's still lacking 4 team members. MJTTOMB's had a few days now, so it should be done soon, but you'll know when he's done, same with Joowna and the rest.

It's too late to enter because I gave up on it. It took me almost a week to respond that's how dead this team is. Your music is damn awesome, though. Damn awesome. Keep it up man, and maybe, just maybe, there'll be a revamped CTSG3 that will get all the way through to the end.
