Down the Rabbit Hole

Posted by WritersBlock - February 10th, 2010

Down the Rabbit Hole

I made this song quite some time ago, but I only just now got around to uploading it. I'm really proud of the material I was producing from about 6 months ago. I've also posted a WIP of something else that I started today, which, I must admit, is not up to the same standard. I'd love it if you guys could give it a listen and a bit of feedback. This song is probably one of the best that I've produced thus far, I'm not sure why I haven't been making much music lately. I've mostly just been writing. I'm planning out a novel series and writing a gothic horror short story at the moment, but I'm also starting to tinker around with my music again, which I'm finding to be really cool.

As far as my literature is concerned, it's a bit touch and go at the moment. I start Uni soon, so I'll probably be writing a lot more over the coming months. I'm thinking this gothic horror story could be used as my contribution to the Newgrounds Anthology project gum and I started a while ago, but I've been neglecting, shamefully. I'll get that back into shape as soon as possible. There's also the Monthly Writing Competition going on at the moment. Which can be found here, if anyone's interested.

(shameless plug for my audio etc etc.)

cool song man!

Thanks!

Good song but for the love of christ can you get a slightly less generic banner?

No. :)

Isn't the banner kinda like a joke, his name is WritersBlock and he can't come up with a creative banner

He's going for a minimalist angle on the banner. Yep.

Why haven't you got your audio mod-ness back?

Stupid Wade.

I've been offered, but I haven't followed through with anything yet. I was excited initially, but with uni and work being pretty full on at the moment I should probably put it aside for the time being and maybe talk to wade about it later.

Hey man. You said you didn't make a lot of music these days, I initially thought that meant you lowered yourself to my standards and didn't submit anything this year, but that doesn't seem to be the case. Even though I've been working on stuff, just haven't been submitting :P
Rabbit Hole's a cool song man. A little long, true, but cool. Fry Hole's more in my taste though, it progresses more as a song, like a flower that folds open... Yeah... That was a really gay thing to say.

I really wanna hear some songs you've made using maschine :3

Also, writing and music can go hand in hand pretty well right? Music inspires you to write, and vice versa? I don't know :3

Oh and yeah, I feel lame for not entering January's writing contest -_-
I was gonna, I had this cool idea. The problem was though, that it was a little too bizarre, and I had to think about a good motive for the culprit. I couldn't think of any, and the more I thought about it, the more I started to dislike the idea, lol. I had a new idea after that, but it was way too cheesy. Should have told you, sorry man.

I'm planning to enter new writing contests though, keep me posted :3

I've been trying to tinker around when I've got the time. I'm studying writing, so that's pretty full on. I've started messing about with maschine as a plugin for FL studio. It's a little different as a DAW and I haven't spent the time to fully learn how to use it properly yet, as with a number of different programs that came with it.

I'd love to see your stuff in the writing contests again, although I'm struggling to keep up with judging and all that as I get more and more involved with uni.

Oh, and I've just got some logitech speakers hooked up to my computer, 5.1 surround sound, it's not too bad, but not exactly the right tools for mixing music. Still not quite got the hang of that yet. :3

Haha yeah, I think I know what set you mean. A lot of people I know have a set like that, it sounds real nice actually. I've given some songs of my own a few listens on those speakers, I was quite pleased with the sound. I wouldn't mind mixing my songs on that for 2 years ;P
