"Pitch shifts are good"

date: March 8, 2008

Well done on that part. The piano part is quite well composed. I find that the drums are too far forward for my taste, so that's my only real issue with this piece. It has a lovely calming abience about it, and the aggression in the drums just make things awkward for me... If you lower them a bit, I think that this song would be simply pleasant. You compose quite well. Keep it up!

Perhaps I went a little overboard with the drums, who knows. The song felt empty without them though.

"Nice composition"

date: March 8, 2008

I'd love to hear this finished and with a real guitar. The programmed guitar just doesn't fit right with the rest of it. I might also add that I think your snare sounds a little too punchy and too high up in the mix, maybe a bit of reverb and tone that down a bit. The piano is really cool, the delay works great. The melody, for the most part is really good, but there are a couple of parts where it moves a little too unexpectedly, and jumps pitch a little to far too often, and it feel s a little unsettled. But overall, as a WIP, it has a great composition, with a real guitar, and a good final mix, it'll be well worth another listen.

Good job.

Artificial guitars always suck, unless you spend ours layering and tweeking down, hours that I don't have :P

"A bit too repetitive"

date: March 8, 2008

Even for techno/trance...
Try to avoid moving melodies in consecutives all the time, that's probably your biggest flaw here... You should try and incorporate more synths into the song, mix the bass up a lot more. What really hooks you into a techno song will be a melody that flexes around a bassline/chord progression. The progression will span over multiple bars, most of the time, and the lead might repeat with variations to suit the change in chords, or stretch out over that whole progression. That's a stock standard way to make a simple catchy techno tune. Chuck in a different synth for the harmony, a strong bass, get a real heavy kick drum going, and you've got something great.
Keep at it, this song's not too bad.

"Slick"

date: March 8, 2008

This is well done. The instruments and movement of the piece is really slick, it's a real joy to listen to. Quite professional sounding. Could have looped better though... that part was the biggest flaw in the piece. But putting that aside, it really is great material.
Congrats on the 200th song!

Another beautiful song by SBB.
Very well composed, it's got a bit of a videogame feel to it, great choice of synths, great mixing.

"Shame about the accompaniment being so low"

Because you've got a great jam here. I had it playing in the background while I was doing other stuff, and it's great music to chill to.
Diggin' the tunes, man! =P
This is how you play a sax! Great job, love jazz, there aren't enough people on newgrounds that record their own instruments (myself included), it's a refreshing break from all the techno =D

This is a great remix, a top notch balance between cover and originality. The beat's really catchy, and overall, it was really well done.

Great job.

"Great"

date: March 1, 2008

Although the instruments used here required some more backup, the melody and harmony could have used some strings or piano in the bass or something to back it up, those 2 layers were a little too dry and sharp, and strings really would have softened it down and supported the melody really nicely, but regardless, it was nice to hear this unfamiliar tune. You did a good job, keep it up.

"Nice ambience"

date: March 1, 2008

The soft dark undertone is great, the build up doesn't amount to much, but it's still pretty solid. Great work, it sounds really cool, drums are spot on, and the strings have a great effect, very emotional.
Top stuff.

"cool trance"

date: March 1, 2008

Nice synths and melodies. It sounds a little stop and start with one of the synths, but it's ok when the drum beat comes in. It has a pulsing feel to it, but that's pretty cool. Overall, it's a pretty sweet tune, great synths, I liked it very much. Maybe try something longer next time?
Great job.
