Music on newgrounds

The thing about music on newgrounds is that most of it is techno, super clean, faultless quality, and it's not too often that a song like this comes along. First off, I'll say that you've got a great voice for this style, and your pitch and tone is something that makes this song enjoyable to listen to.
The drums are nice. I really like the lead guitar part that comes in in the chorus (I think). That's really sweet and I <3 it. The only thing that I don't like is the grungy guitar, it gets in the way of the vocals. I think that this would sound absolutely awesome if the chorus had a clean guitar for those strums, with a bit of an echo, and a slow strum. The structure is great, the ending was nice, except for that last note, it cuts away too quickly giving the song an imcomplete feeling, I'd like to hear you let the last note ring on to nothing at the end.

Great work, this is great music. Keep it up, it's wonderful to listen to. You've got a knack for good songwriting.

Cheers.

Awesome! Yeah, I'm sort of disappointed in the lack of true indie rock songs on the Audio Portal. And yeah, I enjoy the heavey guitar, but I'll agree with you that it weighs it down more. Thanks a lot for the review.

Weird

It's good for the game you made it for. It has its applications there.

It's not bad. Good job. Not something I'd listen to on a daily basis though. ^_^

Nice song

I <3 the accidentals. I have an issue with the piano, it's too loud and heavy. I think it would sound much better an octave higher. It's too "clunky" if you know what I mean.

Other than that it's great. Ending was a little mediochre, though.

Dissonance.

There's too much dossonance for my taste, I think it'd be better with less psycho melodic clashes. That quirky random sound kind of makes it harder to get into the beat. The synths you chose were pretty good though. Also, I think I heard a fruity vocoder in there? I think that in general, the fruity vocoder doesn't work well with most songs, I'd recommend leaving it out here. Overall, it's not a bad piece, it's not really my cup of tea, but it's still good.

Useful.

This could be pretty useful for flash artists. But the range is pretty small and would probably only be the right choice for a smaller section of flash artists. If you expand on this, it'd be great. Yay, diversity!

Nice idea.

Rig responds:

Hey, thanks! :D

I have the older version on my computer

It's good to hear it in all its completed glory.
Congrats on the weekly 1st.

It's a great song. The percussion, the choir, the orchestration of it all is quite immaculate. I really like the chimes (?) going on at around the 2 min mark.

Top work. It's always a pleasure to listen to your music.

MaestroRage responds:

Those chimes are an area of big debate it seems. Many people don't like them, yet I personally like the little touch they add. Who knows maybe we're both crazy!

In any case it HAS been a while since the other demo version posted. Should have posted it much earlier but better late then never yes?

Thank you kindly for the review, i'm glad you liked it WB!

Hey, avi

Nice to see a fellow bandamper here on NG. ^_^

It has a nice classical touch. I think it would be a little better if you brought out the strings more.

This is a really sweet song, I feel like I'm on a train going past some rice fields in China. I think a flute, or something to that effect would really bring this song out nicely, maybe as an extra section answering the string part. I can't help but feel that this song is meant to be going somewhere, but doesn't. The slow and steady build up doesn't amount the the full warm orchestral sound I'd like to hear, but that's just me wanting to hear things that aren't there.

The piano is great. The progression will stick in my head. The strings are mellow and really beautiful. It's a lovely song.

5/5

Variation

Yeah, this part has a lot more variation, which is nice. But it's still plugging away with that trance repetitiveness. I like the effect to which you used the voice samples. I think it'd be really cool to layer a huge echo over that. But I'm enjoying it as it is. I'll have to grab the full version when you get that up, and chuck it on my iPod. It's just great chill music. It's mind numbingly long, and the rhythm sinks in, a lot.

I enjoyed this series. Nice work.

EchozAurora responds:

Thanks for the review.. I lost the file for the whole song, but I just remembered I had it saved in an online hard drive.. so the whole track is now available on my userpage in the Brain Cocktail newpost thing.

And... also.. I'll have to repost it all at some point.. because I can't remember if I ever did.. but yes.. repetitive.. but very good. And the voice samples are a really nice accent.. and yet again.. thanks for the review. =D

Great to hear

That everything came together really well. All the parts are really great. The weakest spot would probably be SBB's ending with 2nd-Edition's early start =/
Other than that, it's awesome. We got some real variety in here. It was a lot of fun.

I look forward to the next one!

Short

Another short loop. One instrument and a little percussive thing at the end. I agree with ragnarokia that the loop would be better without it. I also think that this song would be more interesting if you added a string-ish synth and sustained it over the whole loop, to give it some more depth. Simplicity...
Not bad.

Cyberdevil responds:

It most definatly is short, but that's a good thing though, right? Less filesize for flashes, heh. Anyhow, thanks for the comments!
