The battle was quite short

The change of pace is quite quick and unexpected, I'm left wanting more, feeling that there should have been more. But again, the quality was great and I could hear the story going on, the orchestration was quite full on, high energy. It'd be great to hear something like this in a live performance.
Great work, Maestro.

MaestroRage responds:

In agreement, this song was intended to be longer. A good deal longer. It started life geared to be an intro menu song. It's high energy and vibe however was not what we were looking for. For this reason the song was dropped from production. I didn't want to bury it in obscurity forever though so I posted it up here after some final additions and modifications and hoped that it would find a home in somebody's heart.

Though i'd love to hear this live as well, i'm afraid it's just not possible. I mean so many effects, so many unrealistic representations of instruments... now my friend i'm afraid this song must always exist as is.

Thank you for the review, i'm glad you enjoyed it!

>:(

This song makes me want to kick babies, because it's awesome.
Don't know what to criticise, so I'll just ask, what do you do with the vocals in FL to make them awesome. I've just recently got a mic and I want to get my voice sounding electronic, the best I've got is a bitcrusher and a few effects. Rig, HOW DO YOU DO WHAT YOU DO!? And don't spare on the details.

<3 ^_^ lol good job, gratz on the weekly top 5, lets have a party, agnreh muffins 4 all.

Rig responds:

I'll be posting the .flp this week, so you can check it out for yourself! :D

For what it was made for

it sounds really cool. The instruments are an interesting choice, although, I have to say that I'm not a fan of the guitar sound. I'd prefer to hear it made more digital sounding through effects, FL give it to you so that it sounds in between trying to be realistic and digital. But that was a minor issue, it still sounded pretty cool amongst the other instruments. The progression of the piece was nice, the adding on of instruments at the start was good, and the change to the single note for each chord on the guitar was good. I didn't like the main guitar riff, the melody was jumping around too much, and it gave off a bit of a random feel. I'd suggest keeping a couple of those melodic leaps in there, but change some of them so that they move in step sequence, and it flows a lot more evenly, especially considering that it's in the bass, and the melody is playing over top of it. I'd love to see some more variation in this piece, a new melody in the lead, somewhere in the middle, but for that smooth ambient type sound, you did a really good job, I'm just being pretty picky about it.
Keep it up!

thanks, and yay for first in a while
and picky is good, i need it
yeah, still got to find the guitar sound that suits me

The Lady is a Beast

That was well awesome, your voice sent a shiver down my spine. Whatever happened to the epic metal collab "Authority of Darkness". Anyway, I'd love to see someone like DarKsidE555 add some furious fretwork to this style. Vocals were great, lyrics were a little twisted, a bit like something I'd write. Keep up the awesomeness.
"The Lady is a Beast", you can use that for a song title for free! That's my gift to you, LadyArsenic.
Oh, and Maestro, well done to you too. Epic.

5/5 ^_^

MaestroRage responds:

You know, I continually ask myself the same question! A sad and ridden-down Rage always glumly responds that we have too much on our plates to be fooling with our own work. So I guess that's our answer for ya. =/ I love that song...
Darkside... That name rings a bell for some reason... Did he help with Authorities of Darkness?
Heehee, thank you. I'm not quite the poet I used to be. =/ Very rusty. I needed some help from dear old Ragey.
XD I love that title. I'm going to have to beat it into him until he agrees to it. Thank you for listening, Maestro thanks ye too!
With love,

Love

that gritty angry brass. It's so wonderfully realistic, it almost makes me lose control of my sexual organs >;D

The splendour, I think, about this song, and indeed, now that I think about it, with most of your other songs lies within how well woven together the harmonies between instruments are. There's no real memorable tune, it's a sea of sound that's so easy to immerse oneself in. If I were to tell someone about MaestroRage's music I couldn't go "hey, have you heard his last song, it sounds like this *hums melody*", they'd actually have to listen for themselves, and feel for themselves the way that the music affects the listener on a totally different level.
I love it.
Congrats on the tank awards, your music is memorable, and you truly live up to your title of "maestro".

MaestroRage responds:

I intended it to make you lose control of your vital functions, but sexual organs is an equally important part of one`s self :D!

A very important aspect you`ve realized WB. You`re quite right, in most of my tracks I forgo memorable tunes with harmonies. I just, feel like it has a more deeper connection for the listener. I mean, when you have a memorable melody, yes, the listener still see`s an image, feels an emotion, but most of the time it also distracts them. Expecting, and receiving something from the song on a level which cannot be manipulated from the listener`s conscious. Of course, it`s foolish to say that melodies in general are distracting, every song must have some basic form of melody in order to have the harmonies work with each other, to show the piece guidance before you can really get abstract with it.

Thank you for your kind words. and for your review. I am glad you liked it :)!

Nice!

Great energy, the quick passages were slick, and the transitions were some of the best I've seen from you. You put a great spin on the song. The influence is obvious, but your interpreteation and creativity lifted this above the normal remake. I'm not too fond of how you used the choir though... I'd prefer to see it brought into the background, and bring the glittery piano out more. I'd also like to see some orchestral percussion in your music in the future aswell, because I really would have loved to hear some cymbol rolls and crashes, and timpanis in there too. Great work, knux. I love that you went for a more original take on the cover, you've made some great progress with your music. Keep at it, man!

knuxrouge responds:

Thanks for the review.
I will work into percussions, or I will try.
You right about the choir as I had mixed feeling about it being up front. The glittery piano I think you heard was a harp; courtesy of suspended3rdchord.
or were you referring to my second progression.....
I don't know, but I get your advice and it is gladly taken.
I'm glad you enjoyed it.

What you've got so far is really good.

I think you should take that sound and give it more energy, make it more grand, add in some more variation, some more emotion. Overall, I think you've shown a lot of potential, and I'd like to see how you use that potential in the future.

Great work. Keep it up!

Creative

Great work blending the music and sound effects together. I liked how the music sat back in the mix, like you'd expect in the game. An effective way to tell a little story.

It would have been nice if it were longer, and the music came into the foreground a couple of times throughout the track, but it was great work nonetheless.

Loki responds:

I was working on a way longer Counter-Strike remix back in 2002 or 2003... but my computer actually died, I didn't have backups and I never really got back into it...

I have some other stuff coming up though :)

Thanks for the review!

A great soundtrack

to go with a great animation. The slightly late pluck on the strong beat gives a great natural, almost rubato like, feeling of the music. The percussion is spot on, it feels delicate and precise. It could be a lot more grand and intense, but it's restrained well, and it gets under the skin.

The tune itself sounds quite professional. The build up is a great ice-breaker, and it sets the mood really well, I can hear that you were in no rush to bring the wind instrument into the mix, which is how I think a soundtrack should sound.

Overall, it's another great composition. The time and effort going for the realism payed off, and the ethnic sound mixed with the epic mood well, to get a great tune mid-way between the two. I'm looking forward to seeing what else you create for this project.

Sweet

To me, this song isn't a huge masterpiece. The melody is simple, it's pretty repetitive, and the massive shift in pace that I'm expecting isn't there. But. That doesn't make it a bad song. It's one of those songs that people like to listen to with no strings attached, something to just listen to and enjoy. The tune is sweet, the build up is calm and collected, the drums are soft, and give the track a bit more pace without going over the top. The detached strings and bass rhythm give the track a bit of energy, to tap your foot to. The melody at 1.50 was very nice, probably the best part in the song, I think. The high end frequencies throughout the song give that soft light sweetness, that gives a nostalgic feeling. Listening to this song reminds me of videogames I played when I was younger. This is a nice happy song, I've got it replaying as I'm writing the review, and it's great just sitting in the background. I'm glad that you submitted this song. It's definitely not your best song, but it's worth listening to, and that happy melody is very enjoyable. It's one thing to listen to your techno/drum 'n bass music, but it's another thing to listen to this polar opposite, the diversity is good, and it's great to mix it up once in a while.
I like this. Keep making the music you're inspired to make.
