Chilled

This is nice and chilled. Drums are good, the soloing is good. I've found that as of lately I've been doing a lot more sitting down and playing whatever comes to mind, soloing for ages. Although I think once you've got that down, you really need to step up and try and highten that sense of improvisation, because the thing about this sort of soloing, once you've got a feel for it, it's real simple, nothing too special. But it's fun to listen to. So I'll give you an 8.
Keep jammin' round. =D

Pretty good

But it lacks a certain hardcore-ness, that I like to hear in drum and bass. I love how it's encorporated around your own style, but I think that some harder drum breaks, and a grittier bassline could have been obtained without too much extra work, and it would have brought so much more out of the piece. I also found the synthesized tunes to be a little too repetitive, and the song got boring towards the end. Maybe throw in a curveball (lol baseball analogy from someone who knows nothing of baseball) mix up the sections, and bust out something completely different, and possibly dissonant. That weird kinda clashing sounds works well with drum and bass. For the genre, it's pretty tame, but generally speaking, it's good, well worth a listen, but a bit of extra work would make it better.
Good work.

Pretty Cool

It sounds pretty good quality. Drums, synths are good, the mixing and composition is good. Transitions could be a bit better, for instance, dropping the lead out, leaving the strings sounds kind of hollow. Experiment a bit, find a few different ways to mix it up, and this song will be even more awesome.
Great work.

Thanks :) I appreciate your review.

Cool

Could be longer, I'd like to see a further development of the tune. Nice manipulation of the vocals, that was cool. It sounds very well done, slick, and mixed properly.
Nice work, it's quite amusing. =D

Pitch shifts are good

Well done on that part. The piano part is quite well composed. I find that the drums are too far forward for my taste, so that's my only real issue with this piece. It has a lovely calming abience about it, and the aggression in the drums just make things awkward for me... If you lower them a bit, I think that this song would be simply pleasant. You compose quite well. Keep it up!

Perhaps I went a little overboard with the drums, who knows. The song felt empty without them though.

Thanks for the review!

Nice composition

I'd love to hear this finished and with a real guitar. The programmed guitar just doesn't fit right with the rest of it. I might also add that I think your snare sounds a little too punchy and too high up in the mix, maybe a bit of reverb and tone that down a bit. The piano is really cool, the delay works great. The melody, for the most part is really good, but there are a couple of parts where it moves a little too unexpectedly, and jumps pitch a little to far too often, and it feel s a little unsettled. But overall, as a WIP, it has a great composition, with a real guitar, and a good final mix, it'll be well worth another listen.

Good job.

Artificial guitars always suck, unless you spend ours layering and tweeking down, hours that I don't have :P

Thanks for the review!

A bit too repetitive

Even for techno/trance...
Try to avoid moving melodies in consecutives all the time, that's probably your biggest flaw here... You should try and incorporate more synths into the song, mix the bass up a lot more. What really hooks you into a techno song will be a melody that flexes around a bassline/chord progression. The progression will span over multiple bars, most of the time, and the lead might repeat with variations to suit the change in chords, or stretch out over that whole progression. That's a stock standard way to make a simple catchy techno tune. Chuck in a different synth for the harmony, a strong bass, get a real heavy kick drum going, and you've got something great.
Keep at it, this song's not too bad.

Slick

This is well done. The instruments and movement of the piece is really slick, it's a real joy to listen to. Quite professional sounding. Could have looped better though... that part was the biggest flaw in the piece. But putting that aside, it really is great material.
Congrats on the 200th song!

Beautiful

Another beautiful song by SBB.
Very well composed, it's got a bit of a videogame feel to it, great choice of synths, great mixing.
Top stuff!

Shame about the accompaniment being so low

Because you've got a great jam here. I had it playing in the background while I was doing other stuff, and it's great music to chill to.
Diggin' the tunes, man! =P
This is how you play a sax! Great job, love jazz, there aren't enough people on newgrounds that record their own instruments (myself included), it's a refreshing break from all the techno =D

RadioactiveRhino responds:

Aw, thanks LoveBlimpman!
I'm glad you liked it so much.

And yes, there is WAAAAY to much techno here.

I'm a writer.
