Awesome

I absolutely <3 that medieval riff at the beginning. The piano, and the free form jazz style you've got going is great. At one point the song reminded me of the ghost houses from super mario world. I think that it's great how it's all over the place, the medieval thang here, jazz over thar, some random drug induced psychosis in between. It's brilliant. 5/5 10/10, + fav and two thumbs up.

YAY FOR BRILLIANCE. :D

Nice

This a catchy beat. It's not overly complex, and it's repetitive, but it's trance, so I like it anyway. Good luck with the rest. I'll have to check it out when you post the rest on NG, and then if the rest is good, I might be interested in the whole track.
Good job. I think there's a list of NG artists who've made songs longer than 8 minutes, so, if you could find it, you could be put on it.

Cheers. 5/5 + Favourited.

Also, nice name, Brain Cocktail. ^_^

Thankee much. I need to make a run by your tracks and have a listen myself. I'll probably let this one sit in the portal a day or two and see how it does before I drop the other two in. (This is the longest of the three parts)

Better than the advance version.

I love this tune, but I hate the quality on the advance, so I'm glad to see you did a good job on this. The panning is consistent with the advance song, I think, that sounds cool. The brass works well with the song.

Good job.

Thanks, I remember how you didn't like the original, so I tried to make this appeal to you specifically.
I'm glad I succeededin that.

I really like how most of this is just piano

It comes together really well with the piano. The melody comes out nice, you did a good job remaking this. I found this to be very enjoyable.

I don't really see anything to criticize with this one.

5/5

Thanks, I'm glad you enjoyed this.

Agree that it is kind of hollow.

But the minimalist style of it, just piano and brass (and is that the same sytrus instrument in the background as you used before?), it's cool. It's also probably my favourite sonic songs, and it brings back the memories.
I like it.
Nice one, knux.

knuxrouge responds:

Yes, sytrus, I find it nice to be a more direct and epic version of the strings, but I still use strings. The keys were hard to perfect. Its not my favorite song, but my favorite stage of my favorite Sonic game.
I'm glad you liked this.

Yes, the mix is good.

The different parts sit right where they should. Also, <3 the panning, that sounds really cool. The instruments work well with eachother, the strings (it is strings?) are nice and soft, the brass is good in the lead, goes well with the static piano in the bass.
Good work, knux. It's spot on.

knuxrouge responds:

Thanks, I'm finally getting it down. There are no strings, sytrus.

You sing well...

I'll give you that. The arrangement of the song is also pretty decent, but dammit, the recorded instruments are so damn messy. You'd have a very good song if it weren't for the dirty guitar and muffled drums. This sort of upbeat song NEEDS to have a clear cut clean recording.
Good job on writing and singing it though. I enjoyed that part.

Well, I was trying to make it sound dirty, I think it sounds to poppy without all the dirt rubbed in.

It's a great beginning.

I'd love to hear it when the whole orchestra gets going. I'm in a classical mood, so I think this is great. NickPerrin has done a killer orchestral remake from castlevania, called "The Belmont Legend", so, if you run short on inspiration, you could go there ;D

His harpsichord introduction is the same melody to your piano at the end, I think. But it's all good. Feel free to PM me with a link once the full version is up. I'd like to hear it.

Cheers.

LimblessAvenger responds:

well obviously parts are going to sound the same seeing as its the same song we both remade, but hopefully the way I do some things will be a bit different. Thanks for the review (and the 10 :D )

I like this one!

The piano is good. The mix is decent. The grungy deep pinao works well.
The brass could be a bit better, it could use a bit more sustain. The middle bit sounded like a bit of the melody was missing, but the melody was clear for the main part. And, yeah, the ending couldv'e maybe used some sustained brass beneath it to bring it out more. It was all by itself, when it sounded like it needed some more harmony, but on the whole, this is probably my favourite of your songs. It's well done, the quick piano runs are great!

Great work.

knuxrouge responds:

Um, thanks. I'm glad you liked this one alot.

Not classical

Should've chucked this in the VG section.
Also, gotta say, drums are too soft. That high synth is way too cheesy, as well as the bass part that comes in to counter it. Deep piano in this VG style should be replaced with a solid bass synth. The melody needs to be brought out a LOT more. The mix in this song is better, in that it's not distorting at all, it's just not harmonised very well. You need to change the synths to something more unique, more VG sounding, less harsh.
It's not bad, but there's a lot of small things that need fixing.
Keep working at it.

Okay, thanks for your opinion.
